Ignore Me Like You Mean It

So today is the second round of storms in a wonderful set to hit North East Alabama this winter. We're looking at a "wintery mix" and tons of snow (for us). A couple weeks ago it was supposed to hit Mobile with 2-3 inches and we were going to get a "dusting". We got three inches and roads were closed for three days. For the past two days schools and businesses have been closed while we've gotten slush and rain, but it hasn't been much lower than 32 degrees. I'm sure I'll be updating or writing nonsense because I have nothing to do and should be studying, so why wouldn't I be blogging? Keep it warm!

So a new school year is here and for me that means buckling down and getting even busier than I've been this year in an effort to graduate this upcoming May. What did the new school year bring for you? For one of my best friends, her very last child and only little boy started kindergarten this year. He's gone from a streaker to a little man who puts his clothes on and goes to school! In other news, we're seeing two more weddings as my husbands father gets remarried this September and his best friend gets married in October. It's been a busy year. Hopefully I'll have time to continue to post, but lets be honest, it's not as if I'm posting about anything important. Maybe I'll find a soapbox and get up on it for a while. Or maybe I won't. Enjoy the end of the summer. A little birdie told me it was going to be a very cold winter.

                      So after some serious discussion about school, work, and our new marriage, my husband and I have decided to try to conceive. With the knowledge about my age and my health (Not that I'm old, don't get any ideas, you whippersnappers) we both felt like it was important to at least go ahead and start our journey, and if we get pregnant, then we'll praise God. And if we don't, we will go from there. Continuing with school and our lives.                      I'm a little bit overwhelmed at the moment. As I said, I'm not old, but with one ovary and that ever-fateful 35 approaching faster every day, I don't want to be stuck with my ONE dream out the window because I didn't act soon enough. This week is National Infertility Awareness Week and the fine people at RESOLVE have challenged Bloggers to write a blog post with the theme of “Don’t Ignore Infertility”. In your life, in the lives of your family and friends, don’t ignore infertility. The words that so make so many of our hearts drop to our feet are: “Just relax, it will happen” and “Just trust God’s will”.  These (and others) are phrases that I can’t stand. They are meant to be helping words. Kind words. Words to uplift and give encouragement. And yet as quick as they are spoken, they cut to the quick and cause resentment, anger and bitterness. Some people experience infertility and never have biological children. Others have children and experience infertility after that, called secondary infertility . Either way, it hurts. So today Andrew and I got our wedding rings ordered. Well, correction. The sweet lady who runs the place was going to give us a discount on mine, and since she WASN'T THERE TODAY *gasp* we only ordered his titanium *insertname* ring today. Tomorrow will be exactly one month until this long crazy engagement is over and I get to start my life with my new husband. Who turns the water on when he goes to the bathroom. No matter what he's doing. Our water bill his ha-UGE. So anyways. Here is my awesome engagement ring (which actually does fit) along with my soon-to-be-new wedding band. Aahhhh! Marriage! As previously mentioned, I'm discovering that weddings are much more involved than I expected. That being said, I've dedicated this next post to just that. For those of you planning a wedding, remember the little things. 1. A coordinator doesn't cost a lot, and takes away a LOT of stress. Ours cost less than a grand for decorating, organizing, handling everything the day of, and helping me stress over those small details a year in advance. 2. You can't go wrong here. 3. Hand your stress to other people. Give those friends and family that want to help things to do. Let your control freak go and just do it.
